Minister Kuman Clarifies Why Vacant Teachers’ Position Were Not Advertised

Education Minister, Nick Kuman clarified reasons as to why vacant teachers’ positions were not advertised for the last two years.

He said under standard circumstances, the positions were submitted, and published by mid-June/July of last year and then appointments  were made immediately after.

According to Kuman, however, the department did not have funds to conduct advertisements and appointments. The fund shortage  also linited then to update the list to work with for the years 2015, and 2016.

He assured that the deferred listings for both years would be advertised this year, and urged provincial governments to ensure that vacant positions are made available to help move things forward.

“The Department of Education and the Teachers Service Commission will ensure that the Master Registry is updated and I urge all 22 provincial governments to make sure that all vacant positions are made available,” Minister Kuman said.
