4 dead and 25 injured in Paia Kona road accident

A traffic accident along the Paia Kona area in Tambul Nebilyer, Western Highlands Province has left four people dead and 25 others injured.

The incident occured yesterday morning.

While police are yet to identify the cause of the accident, eyewitnesses say, the 25-seater PMV bus was traveling at high speed.Because of this, the bus missed the road, and overturned down the hill.

Mt Hagen General Hospital confirmed that four people have died, and 25 others are being treated at the Emergency department with serious bodily wounds.This is not the first accident along the Paia Kona road.

Thousands of lives have been lost along this stretch of road in the past.

Western Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Jacob Kamiak, recently warned drivers to be careful when carrying passengers and driving on sealed road.
