The up skilling of coaching staff at the High Performance Training Centre has now become of essential value, to the training and preparation of athletes for the 2015 Pacific Games.
In early January next year, the HPTC coaching staff as well as national coaches from around the country will attend a coaching conference.
Head Athlete Performance Coach, Tom Frost said “this will be a great opportunity for all coaches to gather and prepare themselves leading into the games, and the structures of next year.”
In the meantime, coaches have been working on improving the athlete’s levels of competency, through consistent training programs.
“Tracks are done every 3 months, to track the progression of athletes,” said Frost.
Within these three months, specific programs are designed for specific Sport weekly, to correct imbalances, and further strengthen athletes.
The High Performance Training Centre has a coaching staff of 12 performance coaches.
Papua New Guinea’s golden girl and elite athlete Dika Toua as performance coach co-ordinator leads the coaching operations.
