Yangoru-Saussia Submits District School Attendance Survey

Yangoru-Saussia District in East Sepik Province has just joined 57 ther districts inthe country who have submittedtheir Education Survey report tothe Nationwide School Survey Taskforce.

Each district was given a hundred thousand kina to conductthe survey intheir schools.

 

The aim was to establish how many schools exist in various districts inthe country,the number of teachers teaching in those schools, and how many children are actually attendingthese schools.

 

The Member for Yangoru-Saussia and Minister for Trade Commerce andIndustry, Richard Maru, recently presented his District’s Education survey report tothe Nationwide Schools Survey Task Force Chairman, Paru Aihi.

 

Mr Aihi’saidthe aim of setting upthe task force was to getthe education systems right.

 

He saidthe Tuition Fee Free Policy is based onthe number of students’going to schools inthe National Education system,therefore, Mr. Aihi’saidthe Government must ensure it knowsthe exact number of students’attending schools inthe country.

 

Mr. Maru’said in some schools in his Districtofunds have been deposited into private accounts and not school accounts.

 

He added it was important to now look at appropriate action.

 

Meanwhile Mr Aihi’said from allthe reports provided bythe Districts, wherethere has been blatant abuse ofthe processes and procedures, those implicated must be brought to justice.
