World Aids Dayin Gulf

The People in Gulf Province observedWorld Aids Dayby addressing Gender-Besed Violence, or GBe.

 

The aim was to address Gender-based violence in order to prevent HIV transmission inthe province.

Stop Gender based violence – Reduce HIV or Noken Paitim Man or Meri Belong Yu-Daunim HIV, wasthe country’stheme for this year.

 

The National AIDS Council Secretariat Regional Manager, Fredah Taimbari, said thatthere are five areas why gender-based violence and HIV were related.

 

People who fall underthese five categories ether face violence becausethey are HIV positive, or get infected due to violence.

 

The Gulf people supportedthe mover bythe National AIDS Council and actively participated inthe event.

 

The people were strongly urged as individuals to make ittheir business to stop gender-based violence intheir homes, work place, communities, and that will make a difference tothe province, and tothe nation as a whole.
