A monitoring and evaluation workshop for public servants has been held in Lae for the past three days to improve how government officers implement projects.
The donor-funded program facilitated seeks to iron out techniques and procedures taken by public servants who often lack the capabilities to carry out their jobs.
More than 18 participants were part of the economics workshop that ran this week.
Some of Morobe’s provincial administration officials have taken part in a weeklong workshop on ways to carry out services effectively at both the district and provincial levels.
The have been taught how to implement projects in district and provincial levels by using the latest monitoring and evaluation techniques from this workshop.
It comes following much criticism about the way public servants are implementing projects.
Provincial Administrator, Patilius Gamato, in his closing speech this afternoon spoke about the importance of monitoring and evaluating project plans.
This workshop supported by the Economic and Public Sector Program was led by a consultant from Australia.
One of the public servants that took part is Juliana Niakambare. She has worked as a district heath coordinator in the Lae District Level for more than 2 years.
