The Women-in-Sports-Journalism Workshop had focused on exhanging experiences on roles and barriers in the Papua New Guinean sporting and media landscape.
The week-long workshop identified strengths and weaknesses in Sports Reporting. It revealed the need for sports journalists to broaden their knowledge and cover unfamiliar sports codes.
Other challenges of reporting sports stories were also discussed.
Dorcas Tindri, a participant, says the workshop was important to her as a sports journalist. She will use the information to improve her work.
With the workshop hailed a success in the country , members of other particpating Pacific nations have shown interest for a similar workshop to be carried out in their island countries.
Fiji will host the next Pacific Women’s Sports Journalism workshop in December.
