Wisil Strikes Again

Toea Wisil broke her own 200m National record for the second time this season in a high quality race in Canberra today.

Wisil came agonisingly close to the World Championship Qualifying time of 23.10 as she led the field for 150m before she was edged out by Australia’s Ella Nelson who won the race by 23.00.secs.

Australia’s Top ranked 400m runner, Morgan Mitchell, who came third in the race made 23.44 seconds.

Wisil’s Coach, Tony Fairweather, said he knew Wisil was in good shape, and was delighted by her performance. Toea’s focus is now on the Australian National Championships in Sydney on March 31 to April 2.

Wisil will take a two week break after the national championships, and train towards the Oceania Championships in Fiji, which offers her another chance to qualifying for the world championships, before she departs for Europe in July.

Apart from this year’s competitions, Wisil will also be training for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2019 Pacific Games and 2020 Olympic games.
