Wigmen returns to PNG rugby League

The Hela Wigmen Rugby League Club is set to make a return to the semi-professional rugby league competition in 2013.

Following a disappointing first season in the 2011 Digicel Cup Competition then been dropped from the competition, a general meeting was held with former players and club executives to rejuvenate the club.

The Hela Wigmen found themselves in financial turmoil following more pledges then bankable results towards the club’s participation in the 2011 Digicel Cup competition.

Now with the help of current Kumul and Wigmen original Richie Kambo and others, the club is confident of making it back to the country’s top rugby league competition.

A formal financial report will be furnished to the Hela Wigmen board to ensure all is clear before the start of a new season and what is set to be a new era for this highly potential team.
