PORT MORESBY, July 7 – Medals will be awarded in four sports on Wednesday at the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games.

In mixed doubles table tennis, Tahiti will be looking to continue its winning ways after dominating the team event earlier in the week.

In the first para-sport events of Port Moresby 2015, medals will also be awarded in men’s and women’s sitting and standing table tennis tournamen’s.

It will be another busy night at the pool as women’s 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle medals will be decided while men’s winners will touch the wall in 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 400m freestyle. 

There will also be a gold medal awarded in the 4 x 50m mixed medley relay.

Tahiti, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea have had the most success at the BSP Arena pool so far.

Weightlifting continues at the PNG Power Dome on Wednesday with the big units stepping onto the stage in the men’s up to 105kg, over 105kg and women’s over 75kg.

Nine medals are on offer at weightlifting; snatch, clean and jerk and overall for all three weight categories. 

The first session of the 25m standard pistol shooting competition begins at 10:00 and medals will be awarded after the second session that starts at the June Valley Shooting Range at 16:00.

Only one gold medal will be available in shooting as the 25m standard pistol event is mixed.

The stakes are rising at the BSP Arena’s indoor venue as the men’s basketball playoffs start from 11:00 with the final game of the day starting at 19:00.

Rugby fans will finally get their fix with the start of rugby 7s on Wednesday.

In a brilliant start for the competition, Australia will face the might of Fiji in the first women’s match of the tournament.

19 games involving all sevens teams will take part of the first day of the men’s and women’s competition.
