Western Highlands Development Forum:Investing in Their Community

Three rural health centers inthe Western Highlands Province have received five thousand kina each from an emerging elite group fromthe Province.

The group is called Western Highlands Development Forum. It was started in 2010, and is based in Port Moresby.

 

Its main purpose is to unite elit’s from Western Highlands Province to do voluntary development work intheir own districts.

 

The three recipients are; Koibuka Health Center in Nebilyer Districtoandthe Kuruk and Tinsley Health Centers inthe Mul-Beiyer district.

 

Western Highlands Development Forum is a first in PNG that is made up of all educated elit’s and business men and women from Western Highlands Province.

 

Their main focus is to unite and grow network withinthemselves, to extracttheir resources and opportunities to fund for development program intheir districts.

 

Mr. Komati encouragedthe group not to wait for elected Members to do whatthey are able to do for their province.

 

The committees and members also called onthe Western Highlands Provincial Government to recognizethem as a ‘Think Tank’ for elected MP’s to get advice from.
