West New Britain Province presented their bid documents to the PNGNRLC and are hoping to include a team in the Intercity Cup competition next year.

West New Britain is vying to include a team in the Intercity Cup competition with the West New Britain Cutters bid was presented to PNGNRLC Manager Stanley Hondina, today.

West New Britain Governor and patron of the bid, Sasindran Muthuvael says, this is a great opportunity for the people of West New Britain to represent the province in Rugby League.

Sasindran Muthuvel said, “And also it is a provincial pride, also giving opportunities for young ones to practice and represent their province and as the provincial government, we are helping them to initially establish this Kimbe Cutters Board and also to establish this bidding and the initial process of it.”

One aspect of having a team in the Intercity Cup competition is to have financial backing. WNB Cutters bid business rep Freddy Kumai said different businesses have shown interest and support towards the team.

“Kimbe, it’s a small province, where we have two major companies in there and we have a few corporate companies in there as well,” said Kumai,” with the backing of the few that we have secured so far,  that enables us to bring the bid through today.”

This is the second bid that has been presented this week with a couple more to be given in tomorrow from interested provinces.

“I’ve already got two now. Two more to come and others I think they won’t come but we’ve got a tentative competition. We’ve got space for two.” said PNG National Rugby League Competition Manager Stanley Hondina.
