The president of PNG weightlifting Federation, Sir John Dawanicura, today announced PNG’s weightlifters who will participate in the Oceania Weightlifting Championships in July.
The team of lifters will include Senior, Youth and Junior weightlifters who will compete in their divisions respectively.
These lifters will take centre stage at the coming Oceania Championship from 5 – 9 July, with most of them to compete in the Youth and Junior categories.
The senior lifters left the country yesterday to train in Noumea, New Caledonia. They will team up with the younger lifters in July.
Among the youth lifters are Koni Toua, the younger sister of top female lifter, Dika Toua.
Koni will compete in 53 kg category in the Youth division the same one as her sister Dika.
Other young lifters include, SP Junior Athlete award winner, Bea Ovia, and 18-year old Gashe Heni, who will participate in the 105kg division.
