Water PNG to Connect Madang District’s Siar, Nagada, Riwo and Malmal Villages

Water Supply in Madang District will be extended into four new villages on the Northern coast of Madang province.

This will be the first time for these villages to have access to treated water. These villages are Siar, Nagada, Riwo, and Mammal.

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Madang MP, Nixon Duban in his capacity as the DDA Chairman and Raka Taviri Jnr, the Water PNG Chief Executive and Managing Director.

The signing comes two years after initial surveys were conducted in Madang.

It will be a K4 million project where funding was sourced from outside the District Support Improvement Program Fund.

A launching will be done in Madang in two weeks’ time to mark the start of the project.

The installation of water supply into villages is an expensive exercise, but Water PNG’s Chief Operating Officer, Billy Imar, says local MPs can partner with Water PNG to bring in treated water supply into their communities.

Water PNG is the biggest water supplier in the country.
