Wabag Town Market Project stalled

They arethe Wabag market, the Wabag Chicken Abattoir project, the Vegetable Depot projectoandthe Maramuni road project. They fall underthe Wabag District Rural Holdings Ltd initiated by former Wabag MP, Samuel Tei Abal.

Nowthere is a Court order restrainingthe current MP, Robert Ganim from any involvement.

The “fear of interference” withthe court’s order has led to non-funding by Wabag JDP&BeC to WDRHL this year.

The delay in completingthe new Wabag town market has led to increased road side selling by vendors…..Futher resulting in overcrowding alongthe roadside and unregulated disposing of rubbish.

It is also a traffic hazard for vehicles especially for large highway trucks.

The question of “ownership” ofthe WDRHL Company prolongs and lingers deep inthe minds of every Wabag citizen.

An elder of Wabag town, Pisara Pambai says politics should not interfere with service delivery.

It is believed WDRHL has accumulated assets worth around K9 million since its establishment in 2009.

Meanwhile, Nuigini Beilders contracted to buildthe Market has pulled out over nonpayment.
