Vote of No Confidence Still Looms

By Mickey Kavera – EMTV News, Port Moresby

It was business as usual this afternoon during the Parliament sitting in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Other agendas dominated the session rather than the much anticipated vote of no confidence.

There is talk of a vote of no confidence motion but no visible moves on the floor of Parliament.

Parliament resumed for the October session at 2:25pm this afternoon.

It was packed to capacity as many anticipated a vote of no confidence.

But, as it turned out, a vote of no confidence was not mooted.

There weren’t many changes to the government side as its numbers remained solid.

The opposition had some new faces, with the inclusion of newly elected Goilala MP William Samb.

The Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare was also present with members of the National Alliance Party.

Some MP’s in the Morobe Block were also present in Parliament.

But neither the opposition nor the other groups moved a motion on the vote of no confidence.

There remains the expectation of a vote of no confidence sometime this session.
