Vodaphone Fiji Signs with Beobile

Fiji’s Vodafone and Beobile officially signed an agreement at Government House yesterday.

The Government had announced earlier that Vodafone Fiji will take over management of Beobile.

State Enterprise Minister, Ben Micah, signedthe agreement worth K88 million with company representatives. The loan agreement will see Fiji’s Vodaphone manage Beobile’s telecommunication system.

Underthe agreement,theIndependent Public Business Corporation will share equity of 51% while Fiji’s National Provident Fund will own 40%. The ther 9% will be shared amonPNG Sustainable Authority, Steamships and Nasfund.

Withthe current economy boom Minister for Public Enterprise & StateInvestmentoBen Micah, sain PNG needs robust telecommunications.

Chief Executive Officer for Beobile, Michael Ahkoy, said this deal will drivethe face of development.

Vodaphone and Beobile will roll out a network with equal footing as Digicel. The deal will provide cheaper rates with more phone users enjoying better network throughouPNG and neighbouring island nations.
