Vixen Arrives in PNG for water, sanitation and hygiene awareness

By Jaylee Sapias – EMTV sports, Port Moresby

Melbourne Vixen and Australian Diamonds Netballer, Liz Watson, is in the country for five days to learn and discuss issues of water, sanitation and hygiene with local girls.

Watson arrived yesterday thanks to a partnership between WaterAid and Netball Victoria. She will be working alongside PNG Pepes Captain, Lua Rikis.

Rikis was excited at the prospect of meeting one of Australia’s best netballers, as she spoke of the Pepe’s challenges faced.

As part of the program, Watson will be meeting with the rest of the PNG Pepes team and the Netball PNG Patron, Lynda Babao O’Neill, visit a WaterAid project and play netball with local schoolgirls in Port Moresby.

Watson leaves the country on Friday after visiting communities in the East Sepik Province, and maternal health facilities in Mt Hagen.
