UOT Komodos and UPNG Beacks drew 4 all inthe Vice Chancellor’s Cup rugby tournament final playoff overthe weekend.
UPNG Pythons fought hard inthe semifinals however succumbed to Komodos.
University of Papua New wasthe host ofthe biannual Vice Chancellor’s Cup. UPNG Vice Chancellor Professor Albert Mellam officiatedthe kick off ceremony on Monday last week.
Five teams locked in for the tournament.
2 pools were introduced. Inthe first semi-finals it was a tight match between UOT Komodos and UPNG Pythons.
On field discipline and ball action were equalized and hard to touch down at try line. Komodos managed a penalty kick and field goal. Pythons bounced back with only a penalty kick however succumbed to Komodos 3-2 to final hooter.
Nokondi boys sensedthe pressure and fought hard with two converted tries but time didn’trsquo;t allow asthey went down.
Komodos took on UPNG Beacks inthe final playoff drawing 4 all. The cup remained with UPNG SRC.
Next venue to hostthe tournament is yet to be announced.
