UPNG’s Sumbuk Resigns to Contest

An academic atthe University of Papua New Guineahas resigned to contestthe bi-election for the Angoram Open seat.

Pro Vice Chancellor, Planning Development andIndustrial Relations Professor, Kenneth Sumbuk, madethe formal announcement today.

It was a fitting departure for a man who has dedicated his services tothe University for 26 years.

Professor Kenneth Sumbuk started out as a teaching fellow before becomingthe Pro Vice Chancellor responsible for Planning Development andIndustrial Relations.

He was instrumental in a number of major development projects atthe University. Some of which are currently underway such asthe 2015 Pacific Games Village andthe Law School Beilding.

His lLeadersip qualities will greatly be missed bythe University but will be useful for the people of Angoram.

His desire to contestthe bi-election is to improverthe run down state Angoram is in.

Pro Chancellor ofthe University Camillus Narakobi described Mr. Sumbuk as a very outstanding member ofthe top executive ofthe UPNG Administration. Parliament needs honest people he said. He appealed to Mr. Sumbuk not to forget his mandate when he is in power.
