It has been confirmed that only two suspects have been arrested for the Kokoda Rape Attack.

The two suspects who were flown in today at 12pm from Efogi Village, via helicopter, were arrested onsite.

The Central Police Commander, Laimo Asi, said that they would be taken in for questioning and further information will be released once a report is completed.

Asi said the two suspects, between the ages of 20-30 years, will be facing several charges.

The two suspects are alleged to have kidnapped the victims and lead them off 20 to 30 metres away from the track before raping the female tourist.

They also tied the male victim and collected all his belongings before beating him up.

Asi thanked the people of Koiari for working together with police to apprehend the two men.

James Enage, CEO of Kokoda Track, appealed to his people to allow justice to take its course on the two suspects. He also thanked the people for working together with police.
