TVET must be supported says Principal

A remote technical skills training institution in Alotau needs support to enhance its standards.

Steven Samson, School Principal of Rabaraba Vocational College, says the trend of people being accepted to universities is minimum, and priority must be given to technical or TVET institutions.

Samson made this statement following the opening of two new teachers’ houses recently by Alotau MP Charles Abel.

Speaking after the house opening, College Principal Steven Samson said there has been support but at a slower pace. He says this technical institution must be supported through infrastructures, so it can provide opportunities to school leavers.

The institution currently introduced new skilled courses which Principal Samson says students are helping build the school with the two teachers’ houses being the first project.

Speaking on a national level, Alotau MP Charles Abel says a huge gap remains in supporting and maintaining PNGs health and education institution.

Rabaraba Vocational College is one of the few technical skills training in Milne Bay Province. It’s located within Rabaraba Station, isolated, and is rural based.
