Tsiamalili confident of successful delivery of 2016 U20 Women’s World Cup

By Jaylee Sapias – EMTV News, Port Moresby

After observing the FIFA World Club Cup in Japan last week, PNG Sports Foundation CEO, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, has said he is confident of a successful delivery of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup next year.

The expectations for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup by the FIFA Board were to meet minimum standards. In response, Tsiamalili said, in terms of development and infrastructure, Papua New Guinea was not close to Japan but had the facilities to cater for the Women’s World Cup next year.

Tsiamalili also said other sports have sacrificed their sporting grounds for the World Cup Event, but, despite this, Papua New Guinea is to see a lifetime of sporting facilities.

Tsiamalili said the atmosphere for the FIFA World Cup is expected to be slightly different to the Pacific Games.

He believes the public will be intrigued as this is the first world sporting event the country will host.
