Tribunal Dismisses Awesa’s Case

By Michelle Amba – EMTV, Port Moresby

The case against Works Minister, Francis Awesa, was dismissed by the Leadership Tribunal in Port Moresby this morning.

The four-month case saw its conclusion today, when the tribunal found that the allegations did not have sufficient supporting evidence.

The leader was brought to trial on grounds of misconduct in office.

It was alleged that Mr Awesa built a fence on his residential property in Port Moresby to serve his personal interest.

Minister Awesa commended the country’s judicial system, but also criticised the concerned agencies for trying a trivial case which had cost the state K2million.

He said the case has caused him a lot of stress and hardship, however he resumed duties today and thanked all who supported him.

The member of parliament will return for parliament sessions once the Tribunal forwards the decision to the Speaker of Parliament.
