Training and Staff Development Vital

By Fabian Hakalits – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Like any other airline company, safety first is the key message. And PNG Air has also taken onboard safety as its first priority that is the core to its business operations.

The first step is investing more on training and staff development, which is fundamental throughout the process of introducing the ATR aircraft into its fleet.

A brand new aircraft means training of ground operations staff is heavily invested in, and vital for a passenger’s safety.

Ground Operations Training Manager, Faith Cele, told EMTV News the company has prioritised staff training as a core to its business, ensuring they’re skilful and knowledgeable.

This is to ensure safety features like the hotel mode of this new ATR aircraft are followed.

Theory and practical training are essential and with proven flights to selected ports, staff are able to apply what they have learned during in-house training.

According to PNG Air, safety is paramount, and hroughout the process of introducing the ATR 72-600 aircraft and developing the brand, all staff are heavily involved in planning and training.
