Today’s way of life has people constantly on-the-go; busy schedules and appointments leave people no time to pay much attention to the meals they have.
To mark the fight against all forms of cancer, we should practice prevention by consuming healthy foods, compiled here (do not replace this list with your regular health checkup.)
Cauliflower
Cauliflower containes sulforaphane, a compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer effects. Sulforaphane is released when cauliflower is broken down, so concentrate on chewing before swallowing.
Cauliflower and broccoli have similar effects, so add broccoli as well.
Carrots
More famous for their benefits to the eyes, research from the last ten years suggest that carrots are also great against some types of cancer, predominantly prostate cancer.
Studies done on mice who fed on an increased intake of cancer showed that carrots could stop the growth of prostate cancer.
Avocados
For all you people out there who aren’t a fan of this glorious fruit, here’s something to take note of. Avocados have a whole list of benefits and is seen to be a must have in the kitchen.
Avocados also have a high amount of healthy monounsaturated fat. They are very versatile, you can make guacamole out of it, add slices to a sandwich, or mix in with other fruits to create a juice or smoothie. Other people even use it as a substitute for butter or margarine on their morning biscuits as a spread.
Broccoli
Broccoli is one of the best natural cancer fighters against many types of cancer. Colon and bladder are among the top two cancers that can be treated or even prevented when eating broccoli.
Broccoli also being a high fibrous food also helps with digestion.
Tomatoes
These big red juicy foods are not only a great antioxidant that can work wonders for your skin, but are also big cancer fighting players. Cooked tomatoes assist the body in releasing a specific phytochemical that provides cancer fighting benefits called Iycopene.
Walnuts
Want to prevent breast cancer or prostate cancer? Walnuts may be your answer. They also contain lots of omega 3, a type of fatty acids that is actually beneficial to our health such as lowering our risk of coronary heart diseases and reducing high cholesterol. Walnuts are also packed with copper which helps in keeping your natural colour rich.
Walnuts are great as a breakfast food or as a snack in between meals.
Garlic
Garlic is said to be able to stop cancer cells from multiplying and spreading. They also have antiviral and antibacterial effects, acting like antibiotics and can work well especially against fungal infections.
Ginger
This particular spice is said to be the star of them all. Studies have shown that ginger actually works better than cancer drugs in fighting against cancer cells. Its anti-inflammatory system can also help cure motion sickness as well.
When it comes to treating cancer, prevention and detection is probably the best way to nipping it in the bud. Hence, we should always go for regular health screening to detect cancer in its early stages and isolate it early, and practice a healthy lifestyle by being mindful of our diet.
