The Goilala District is home to Tolukuma Gold Mine and only recently, the company assisted the Community School complete its double storey classroom. It will benefit 500 students, with 8 classrooms and 9 teachers.
The double u2013storey was built in 2001 but as there was no concrete agreementu00a0 between the mine and the local people nothing was done. After 11 years, the students at Tolukuma Community School are now able to enjoy the benefits.
There are only 3 primary schools in the area and only 24 teachers in 13 operating schools, however, the number has increased to 19 operating schools with 60 teachers. Woitape LLG President expressed disappointment at how development grants are only concentrated at Goilala which she says has resulted in lack of maintenance for some of the run u2013down education facilities.
