Tokavai Sustains Neck Injury

PNG 7s player, Eugene Tokavai sustained a neck injury duringthe Pukpuk’s match against Fiji.

Fiji defeatePNG Pukpuks 24-nil yesterday.


It was anther one sided affair when Rugby 7s favorit’s, Fiji took onthPNG Pukpuks  atthe 9th Mini Pacific Games currently underway in Wallis and Futuna.


This Wallis and Futuna game is vital forPNG to qualify and gain entry intothe Wellington 7s tournament.


The Pukpuk 7s team endedtheir first day of competition on a good note, by thrashing struggling Wallis and Futuna 46-nil.


Hat tricks to speedsters Tisa Kautu and Hubert Tseraha sawthe Pukpuks completely in control ofthe game.


The Pukpuks quest to qualify for the Wellington Sevens did not start well, whenthey were thrashed by Samoa 40-nil intheir first game.



Favorit’s inthe rugby 7s competition are Fiji and Samoa. And, while Fiji gavPNGbelting yesterday, sending Eugene Tokavai off field with a neck injury, Samoa remain on top defeating Fiji to stay clear as gold medal contenders in Rugby Sevens.
