The Telefomin electorate in the West Sepik province is one of the least developed areas in PNG. Social indicators are low and locals live below the poverty line. But new Telefomin MP, Solan Mirisim, hopes to change the electorate.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, paid a 5-day visit to PNG, describing it as an experience of many communities and great energy and results. Among his various activities, the Archbishop had a one-on-one discussion behind closed doors with victims of domestic violence and people living with HIV/AIDS.

Cocoa and copra have been leading agricultural produce in East New Britain over the years. But soon, another commodity is poised to tip the scale.
