Thousands of Illegal Materials to be Destroyed

The Censorship office has collected over 20 thousand illegal materials and is preparing to destroy them.

Senior Enforcement Officer, Mrs. Poveta Posa stated that restricted and prohibited materials that have been detained are currently sorted and recorded before they can be destroyed unanimously.

Enforcement officers have obtained more than 4 hundred sex enhancement products including playboy magazines, sex toys and over 22 thousand recorded DVDs.

Censorship office liaises directly with Customs, PNG Ports and Post PNG to confiscate such materials before they are destroyed.

Such materials under law are classified as illegal and restricted for Papua New Guineans to be in possession of or use.

These items have been collected between 2011 and 2012 mostly from PNG Customs and Post PNG via normal and registered mails from overseas.

All these confiscated items will be destroyed in March this year.
