Thousands Flock to Walk on Kumul Flyover in Port Moresby

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

The official opening of the Kumul Fly-over this morning saw thousands flock to the scene.

It was the only opportunity for the public to take a walk on the four-way lane, before pedestrian’s will be prohibited.

EM TV was there to capture this historic moment for PNG.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for residents of Port Moresby to be part of this historic event; opening of the only fly-over in the country.

This morning law enforcement units, Hawkins Staff, and city authorities did their best to control the influx of people pushing their bid to be part of the 1,000 people dressed in orange to walk on the flyover.

Even the small and young were curious to get a glimpse and be part of the crowd.

It was quite chaotic at times, as people pushed through to be part of the program, to see Prime Minister Peter O’Neill cut the ribbons and open the K165 million infrastructure built at the gates of PNG, the Jacksons Airport.

Many say, being part of this historic moment to walk on the Flyover will be remembered for as long as they live.
