Thompson Teteh Out

SP Hunters centre Thompson Teteh’s 2016 season is over.  With eight minutes to go in Saturday’s 24-20 loss to the Townsville Blackhawks, Teteh suffered a season-ending injury after collecting a knee from Blackhawks halfback Michael Parker-Welsh in a tackle.

Teteh remained on the field and completed the game. He saw a doctor at full time who immediately took him to Townsville Hospital where he went through emergency surgery. His operation finished at 4.30am early on Sunday morning. The operation was successful, and he is hopeful he will return to Port Moresby on Wednesday.

PNG Rugby League Chief Executive Officer, Bob Cutmore, said Teteh was in a stable condition last night, and was released from hospital yesterday morning after a medical review. Marum said Teteh’s family have has been informed, and all care and attention will be given to him during his recovery.

Teteh has been in dynamic form lately, and this season ending injury will be a big loss as they head into the last two games and the finals series.
