The Tabari Craft Market

Are you new to the city of Port Moresby? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a gift for a friend or that special someone? If so, the Tabari Craft market in the centre of Boroko is the place for you.

With Papua New Guinea’s diverse culture and traditions brought to life in the arts and crafts on display, you will be awed by the many different items available which feature a bit of the country’s four regions including the highlands, islands, southern and the Momase.

You’re sure to be amazed by what’s on offer, from Bilums with different designs, sizes and colours, to hats, carvings, kina-shell breast plates, shell jewellery, feathered headdresses and paintings. I could go on and list everything available, but I’ll leave that for you to find out.

Sellers at the market are used to tourists, so whether you’re from out of town, or from across the seas, vendors will be happy to engage in some friendly bartering.

The market is open from Mondays to Saturdays 8am-5pm, so go see for yourself what it has to offer. The pricing is reasonable and you will certainly go home a happy shopper.
