A 10-year-old Morobe girl has to undergo surgery for severe injuries she sustained when she was raped by a man on Thursday inthe Middle Watut area.
The elementary school student was returning home when she was followed bythe man andthen attacked.
Police saidthe injuriesthe girl received were so severe that she had to be operated on whenthey brought her to Angau Hospital.
Police arrestedthe man on Saturday andthen moverd him to Wau for questioning.
This isthe latest of more than one-hundred reported cases of child sexual abuse in Morobe overthe last five months.
