Team PNG Preparing for 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia

Team PNG has had 18 different sports groups, visit Australia in the last two to get ready for the 2018 Commonwealth

This is part of an MOU between PNG and the City of Gold Coast signed last year for PNG elite athletes to stay, train and play on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Deputy Mayor Donna Gates said PNG and the City of Gold Coast will work side by side in helping all our elite athletes to achieve their best, and hopefully build and maintain a long term relationship.

She said other facilities are ready and on standby, such as the popular Metricon Stadium, which will play host to the opening and closing ceremony. Organising Committee CEO, Mark Peter, says PNG now has the opportunity to train their coaches and athletes abroad.

With the City of Gold Coast ready to host the Commonwealth Games, PNG has a big task ahead to prepare.
