Tatana Volleyball Competition Comes to a Close

The Nick and Bonnie Allen Volleyball Tournament held in Tatana Araira ended on Friday with the semi play-offs in the morning followed by the grand final later in the afternoon for both the Open Women’s and Men’s Divisions.

Sharp shooters from Rangitira and Ebco Bullets gave the reigning champs, Dirty Mix, a run for their money in the Open Men’s Division.

The humid and wet weather did not stop supporters and fans from flocking to the courts throughout the week long tournament.

Running for the fifth year, the tournament is an avenue for young men and women to expose their skills and talents in the sport of volleyball.

Dirty Mix, reigning champions defended their title three sets to one over the lads from Fisherman’s Island, Moukele.

In the Women’s Open Division grand final, the Kauka ladies took out the Jebb Sisters 2 sets to nil and attracted a vocal crowd of supporters.

The organizers look forward to supporting their communities through the sport of volleyball, and expect the coming tournaments to be as successful as this year.
