A ten member team of PNG Table Tennis representatives, returned from China today.

The team went on an intensive training program funded by the Government of China, and supported by Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee.

The purpose of the program was to give the athletes the exposure to High-Level competitions played overseas and most importantly the Pacific Games.

The team comprises of four female and six male players, who are currently the best in the country.

China is ranked number one in the World in Table Tennis and to have had the opportunity to train and experience such competition at its highest level will surely boost the teams’ performance.

In the last Pacific Games held in Noumea, team PNG Table Tennis team finished 5th in the men’s, and 8th in the women’s in the overall rankings out of sixteen countries.

Team coach, Rea Loi, said they will be expecting stiff competition from other Pacific Islanders, especially New Caledonia, Tahiti and Fiji to name a few. But, he remains adamant the team will perform to expectation and win medals for PNG.
