Sweep’s Probe into K70 million Continues

The National Court in Waigani yesterday dropped restraining orders by Paul Paraka Lawyers against the investigation by Task Force Sweep into the K70 million paid by the Finance office.

Justice Ere Kariko handed downthe decision stating Paraka Lawyers had violated court proceedings.

Moses Murray from Murray Lawyers spoke on behalf of the defendant Sam Koim saying, the investigation by the Task Force Sweep will continue without further interference.

“After the decision, police can continue to do their work as freely as they should under the Section 5 of Police Act and of course the Constitution Section 197,” said Mr. Murray.
“Mr. Koim beingthe head of the investigating team has been given OK by the court as the head of the investigation team “Sweep Task Force Team.”
“Mr. Koim will continue to proceed in assisting the team in collating, assessing and reviewing evidence for purposes of the police to lay appropriate charges if they find that Paul Paraka is guilty of any criminal doings.”
