Swanita Limited Responds to Evicted Settlers

Swanita Limitedthe company involved inthe eviction of settlers last week on Portion 2007 in Gerehu NCD has respond tothe claims by settlers occupying that piece of land.

 

Swanita claims to bethe legal owner ofthe land portion.

The Managing Director, who did not want to be named, said on September 1st 2010 Magistrate Stephen Oli granted orders for the eviction of defendants Andrew Anuma and all settlers residingthere.

 

However, Swanita was served ex parte orders on 29th July 2013 by Mr Anuma, Swanita claimsthe action taken is an abuse of process without merit.

 

Swanita Limited states that,the settlers have preventedthe development of that land portion since 2010 and eviction exercise taken by police was according to court orders.  

 

People from Upper Fayantina atthe Gerehu Goroka Beock alleged thatthe eviction exercise ofthese community is said to be illegal hasthe land title tothe land portion is still in court proceedings.

 

The settlers are now homeless aftertheir homes were destroyed by a backhoe under police watchful.
