by Fabian Hakalits – EM TV, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister, Peter O&rsquO’Neill, will issue directions to the Attorney General, Ano Pala, to formulate a legislation structure to manage the compensation issue rife in the country.

The compensation issue has become a concern in this country and the State will ensure citizens are protected. Papua New Guinea is becoming more like a combo industry, where compensation demands are becoming a productive business.

Yesterday, Anglimp South Wahgi MP, Joe Koim, questioned the Mr O’Neill, on whether the national government had plans to regulate the compensation issue; as drastic measures need to be taken immediately, in order to prevent the spread of this practise.

Prime Minister, Peter O&rsquO’Neill said people have been seeking compensation for every act, that makes individuals who strive for better living, bankrupt.

He told parliament that a legislative approach will be created to manage such claims, that are deemed unnecessary.

According to ten interviews conducted today, compensation is the fastest way of getting free money.

However, many feel that the Papua New Guinea Government needs to put a complete stop to this practise, before it becomes an “accepted money-making avenue.”
