The St Michael Primary and Elementary school at Hanuabada village in Port Moresby has closed indefinitely.
The closure on Monday followedthe assault of several ofthe school’s staff, by members ofthe community this year.
The last incident occurred early this month, when school headmistress Maryanne Apini, was severely assaulted inthe face by several youths inthe early hours of morning on August 4th.
A meeting was held yesterday inthe school grounds betweenthe school board, staff and parents.
Parents andthe school board have been given an ultimatum, due this Friday 16th, to ensurethe safety of staff and school property before any futher action is taken to re-openthe school.
Meantime, investigations into Mrs Apini’s assault are continuing.
