Sport Scene Episode – 8, 2014

In this episode:

 

An ambitious plan to reach 150,000 children through cricket is the task at hand for the BSP School Kriket programme in 2014.

This follows a record breaking 2013, where 171,500 children participated in 297 schools across Papua New Guinea.

 

This year the BSP School Kriket program has been altered to meet the needs of the children by introducing the BSP School Kriket Blast. The Blast is an interschool soft-ball competition played among the schools who have participated in the BSP School Kriket Programme.

 

BSP donated cricket material to the school after the official opening of the 2014 school cricket program. Given the commitment shown throughout the program, 2014 look very promising for the development of cricket PNG. 2015 looks very promising as our Athletes are preparing themselves in all areas of sports:

 

BSP being the major sponsor of the Pacific Games saw its first official public appearance following the launching of the Mascot – Tura the Kokomo

In tennis, 16 players from the Central Province where selected to form Team Central to represent the Central Province in the PNG games as well as the 2015 Pacific Games.

Still on table tennis, PNGs youngest ever tennis champion Jerry Loi represented PNG in the Pacific Region and was on top spot in tennis in the Pacific region.

 

14 year old Jerry is going through his training preparations at his home village, Tubuserea.

Jeffry is preparing himself for the PNG Games in Lae and the 2015 Pacific Games.

 

Private companies Netball Competition Grand finals saw 9 divisions battled it out at the Rita Flynn courts. Top players and incumbent pepes; were part of the line-up for various teams in the competition which has been going on for the past three months.
