Special Olympics Med Fest Program

Special Olympics will be conducting a one day Young and Healthy Athletes and Med Fest Program to futher enhance sports among people with disabilities.

Three athletes fromthe Autonomous Region of Bougainville and one from Goroka were identiflied duringthPNG Games in Kokopo and whilethey were denlied medals in Kokopo due totheInternational Paralympic Committee rules,the Special Olympic event in New Castle will allow for a fair contest.

 

Nine Papua New Guineas fromthe Special Olympic program will be attendingthe Asia Pacific Special Olympics in New Castle, Australia.

 

Special Olympics will be conducting a one day Young and Healthy Athletes and Med Fest program for children and adults atthe Sir John Guise stadium this Friday.

 

This will bethe first of its kind in PNG

 

The goals ofthe program are to offer free sports physical and ther health examination to people with intellectual disabilities.

 

Special Olympics is not about winning, it’s about participating fairly. The Med Fest is free of charge and interested parents, and guardians within NCD and nearby Central provinces can attend.
