The Special Olympin PNG Team were farewelled last night atthe Car club in Port Moresby.
This special group of athletes will be attendingthe Asia Pacific Games in Newcastle, Australia.
This will betheir second trip. Their first trip was in South Korea on whichthey sent only one athlete. Athletes from Asia Pacific will compete across nine different sports.
These special athletes are athletes who are not disabled, but are suffering from down syndrome.
They will be participating in a variety of Special Olympic- type sports Athletics, Table tennis, Football and Cricket.
This will givethem opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendhip with families, and ther Special Olympics athletes and community.
It will be a four day competition, and athletes will compete between December 2 – 6, 2013.
