There was dominant performance by the Snax Mermaids in the Port Moresby Premier League Tier 1 match last night.
Winning by 21 points, the Mermaids took the lead from the first quarter, and never looked back.
Both of the sides had met in last year’s Port Moresby NA grandfinal, and it had been the women in red who had become victorious. But the mermaids were not about to let history repeat itself.
The narrow 11-7 first quarter was followed by an 8-point margin in the second, before they shot ahead to a 37 to 24 point gap by the end of the third.
Paramana had initially put up a strong fight, but a dismal four points in the final quarter sealed their fate. The Mermaids triumphed with a commanding 49 – 28 win.
In the other Tier 1 match, Kilala Owen was dominant in her role at Goal Keeper for the Sparrows, while it took goal shooter,Emily Anderson, to get her first touch of the ball.
The scoreline however, tighter, with a ten point margin at the end of the match, Sparrows with a 45-35 point win.
In the Tier 2 meet, nerves for Mona as they prepared to face the Rebels.
Mona however unable to match the class of the Rebels, dominated with a 61 – 38 goal win.
The final results in the match between Auna Fonza Raukele and Veupunama , Raukele won 47-42 points.
