Sharks Shock Roosters

by Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The Cronulla sharks have recorded their first win of the 2015 season against the lackluster Sydney Roosters, winning the match 20 points to 12 at Allianz stadium, in Sydney.

This was the first win for the sharks following back to back losses since July 2014.

There was nothing between both teams in the first half hour of the match as the roosters strong defence saved them from being punished for their poor ball handling.
With half time approaching, both teams were yet to score. It wasn’t till 20 year old Cronulla recruit, Jack Bird, playing his first game at five eights. Burst through the
line and shrugged off the roosters full – back Roger Tuivasa-sheck to score the game’s first four pointer.

That margin would stay the same till after half time when nineteen year old Valentine Holmes Scored from a Jack Bird grubber.

Ten minutes after that, veteran Luke Lewis latched on a Jeff Robson kick to push the lead to fourteen points to nil.

The roosters, then (through Tuivasa- Sheck) posted their own points, with some individual brilliance in the 67th .
That try, sparking the Roosters , with back rower Mitchell Aubusson, crossing for a try and James Maloney adding the extras to bring the score to a close 14-12.

That momentum however, short lived with the sharks, biting back through Bird.

The Roosters thought they had a response when Daniel tupou touched down minutes later, but the final pass from Jennings called forward.
