Settlement children getting formal education

Children living in settlements and local villages inthe city’s vicinity now have a chance of getting a formal education throughthe Ginigoada Besnis Development foundation “Young Life Program”.

Today, Young Life program officers begantheir third week of classesith children who have not been to school.

The twenty day program began on February 19th. It targets children betweenthe ages of six and fifteen.

Children and parents gthered atthe Vanagi settlement hall at Badili this morning, to begin anther week of school.

The twenty days program is free. It was founded by Pastor Michael Field and has been in operation since 2010.

Mrs Renagi saidthe children have shown great eagerness to learn overthe past few weeks. More than sixty have enrolled, especially inthe six to nine aged groups.

This morningthe children’sang togther and took part in a quiz. They were later divided intotheir respective age groups to begin classes.

The program aims to certifythese children with basic literacy and numeracy skills so thatthey can fit intothe formal school education system, especially for children inthe ten to fifteen age groups.
