The company that has been given the contract to improve Papua New Guinea’s data management through fingerprinting and the collection of other information has been accused of spying in the US, Canada.
The Chinese technology Giant, Huawei, was given a 230 million kina contract to introduce and manage a biometric identification system that will be used in coming elections.
But this comes against a backdrop of espionage investigations and doubts over some of Huawei’s technologies in mobile phones and IT equipment.
