Schools in Women’s National Provincial 7’s Championship

Six schools in Port Moresby will be participating in the Women’s National Provincial 7’s Championships this weekend.

National Capital District School’s Rugby Coordinator, John Agovai, said this will be an opportunity for our girls to perform and play against Provincial Teams from Buka and Lae.

The Women’s National Provincial 7’s Championships will showcase 6 School girl’s teams from Port Moresby in this weekend’s Championships.

Schools that have fielded both an under-15s and under-19 team have been participating in the NCD schools rugby competition for the last 2 years.

There has also been a lot of interest from Government Schools to field teams.

But due to a ban on Government Schools taking part in all contact sports competition, most students have been taking part in competitions outside of schools.

The Championships will be an avenue to expose the girl’s football skills, and be a lead up to the NCD Schools Rugby competition that will commence in mid-term 2.
