PORT MORESBY, July 11 – Shooters from the island of Tahiti won the team points score event with a score of 859 on Saturday while Eddie Chen Pao took individual points score gold on the final day of shooting competition at the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games.

Tuanua Degage, Moeava Bambridge and Hiro Praxt shot scores of 293, 288 and 278 respectively to win gold just one point ahead of Fiji (858) with Samoa (833) winning bronze.

Fiji’s Christian Stephen (284), Adarsh Datt (285) and Glen Kable (289) came agonisingly close to team gold, but the individual gold medallist at June Valley Shooting Range came from neither of the top two teams.

Chen Pao’s 295 earned him the individual title ahead Degage’s 293 and Kable’s 289 winning bronze.

New Caledonia was fourth (829), PNG fifth (814), Niue (783 points) and Guam (651 points).

A total of 28 individuals represented the seven countries in the double barrel shooting competition.
